Bibbulmun Fund - Purple House

Investing in our Indigenous Communities since 2015

Last year the Bibbulmun Fund granted almost 100K towards the Purple House (Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation) Coober Pedy project.

We would like to share with you all that this project is progressing well, albeit a little slower than originally planned (thank you COVID)
• We have been working with engineers, architects and consultants to finalise the design drawings, specification and other documentation required for the works.

• Architectural documentation for a design and construct contract is around 95% complete, including completion of site plan, building sections/construction details, design and energy efficiency specification and finishes schedule.

• The project has met with some challenges which have impacted progress:
Once the challenges with the earthworks and sewer connection have been resolved, we should be ready for construction. Despite the initial setbacks, this project remains our highest priority and we are doing everything we can to minimise further delays and move forward with construction as soon as possible. With these additional pieces of work we will be undertaking construction during the second half of 2022 and be opening the unit during the first half of 2023. When I have more detailed timing I will let you know as we’ll be very ready for celebrations when it opens
